Company Description
The Secwepemc Child and Family Services Agency (SCFSA) was incorporated under the Societies Act on April 28, 1999. Formation started with Chiefs of the seven Bands of the Secwepemc Nation signing and agreeing on the formation of an Agency to meet the needs of child protection for their communities. The purpose of the Agency is to develop a full complement of child protection services on behalf of the following Secwepemc Bands:
1.Cstalen (Adams Lake Indian Band)
2.Pellt’iq’t (Whispering Pines/Clinton Indian Band)
3.Simpcw (North Thompson Indian Band)
4.Sk’atsin (Neskonlith Indian Band)
5.Skeetchestn Indian Band
6.St’uctesmc (Bonaparte Indian Band)
7.T’kumlups (Kamloops Indian Band)
The agency works in collaboration with these seven bands with regards to child protection and the prevention of abuse and neglect of all Secwepemc children. The ultimate goal is to take over full responsibility of child protection for community members.
At this date, Secwepemc Child and Family Services Agency works under what the Delegation Enabling Agreement, that transitions the authority of child protection through a matrix of roles and responsibilities until full delegation is reached.
Collaborative work and funding from both the Ministry of Children and Family Development and Indian and Northern Affairs Canada have made the Secwepemc Child and Family a fully delegated organization. It is the desire of the communities we serve that Secwepemc Child and Family services be the primary agency for protection of all Secwepemc children.
