Between Vernon and Enderby in the Canadian province of British Columbia's North Okanagan is where you'll find Armstrong. It lies about 480 km (300 mi) from each of Vancouver, B.C. and Spokane, Washington, it overlooks the Spallumcheen Valley, which creates a large pass between the Okanagan Valley to the south and the Shuswap Country to the north. 2013 marked the town of Armstrong's centenary.

Agriculture, logging, and ranching are still a major part of the economy of Armstrong and the Spallumcheen Valley, but tourism is playing an increasingly important role in the region's economic activity. As a popular destination for short excursions, it is especially popular with long-distance cyclists.
